Working in the Ryukyu glass tradition of Okinawa, artisan Kazuya Nakamura founded DEKU GLASS STUDIO in his hometown of Ise, Mie prefecture after training as an apprentice at the renowned Okinawa-based Glass Studio Seiten. Repurposing glass from local soda bottles found around his hometown, Nakamura works under the motto of “creating simple vessels able to fit into all aspects of daily life.”
