Oumei Pottery was founded in 1983 by Oumei Onimaru and is currently helmed by his son, Takayuki Onimaru. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, Onimaru returned to his hometown, the traditional Koishiwara ceramics hub of T?h? Village, Fukuoka Prefecture. As the second generation of Oumei Pottery, Onimaru combines contemporary Scandinavian-inspired designs with the traditional methods passed down from his father. Onimaru endeavors to share the unique charms of Koishiwara ceramics with the world through his wares, which emphasize both utility and aesthetic value.
