This tenugui is hand-dyed using a traditional process known as chusen in the Nagano prefecture in Japan. Colors and patterns of the tenugui are decided by the motifs of dyes, plants, and nature present at the time of craft. Enjoy the authentic qualities of the dye in each piece.

Based in Nagano Prefecture, artist Katsuyuki Sado's workshop SHIGUSA produces tenugui (hand towels) dyed naturally with plants and trees. Using the traditional stencil technique "chusen," each tenugui expresses the delicate and changeable nature of our daily life.
