Based in Aso, Kumamoto prefecture, FUTOSHI YAMASHITA excavates materials from nearby Mount Aso, Japan’s largest active volcano. By using clay rich with volcanic ash and rock, Yamashita creations feature a distinctive rustic quality reflecting the powerful nature of his surroundings.
