Hand-Knitted Remake Knitwear
Each remade knit has been given unique details through Mikami’s skill and creativity.
Every piece is infused with her signature style, resulting in a special creation available only at COVERCHORD.
A subtle slit at the neckline offers a delicate glimpse of skin.
The cozy, hand-knit sweaters are elevated with JUN MIKAMI's modern, sophisticated touch.
Every remake is crafted by unraveling yarn from one section and reworking it into another.
For instance, yarn taken from the waist is used to create adorable little balls at the cuffs.
JUN MIKAMI’s signature knit design includes a cinched waist and subtle slits.
Some pieces are designed with snug arm warmers integrated into the sleeves.

STYLE SAMPLE
by Jun Mikami
Jun Mikami selected a few of the remade knits and styled them by mixing them with her personal wardrobe.
Her unique approach to wearing these transformed pieces is a must-see.
Style 1
"This is pretty much what I wear at home. (laughs)
Since my home doubles as both my living space and workspace, I use clothing to switch between on and off modes.
I rarely spend time in pajamas, even at home."
Style 2
"I had never thought of adding pocket designs before, but this time I gave it a try.
I paired it with slim-fit pants I had custom-made a few years ago and leather boots.
With cozy hand-knit pieces, I like to balance the look with sharper items."
Style 1
"I shortened this skirt from this season's JUN MIKAMI collection by 6cm to make it above the knee.
After seeing the way men in European collections styled their legs, I thought, ‘I want to try that look!’
I found it adorable how older men wore shorts and played around with tights or socks, and I felt it was something I could easily mimic."
Style 1
"I'm currently into New Balance sneakers.
I love how their designs now range widely, even leaning a bit into tech-inspired styles."
Three Questions
for Jun Mikami
—Do you ever remake clothes for yourself?
In the past, I used to remake vintage pieces my mother gave me.
For example, the slit collar design used in this project was something I came up with back then.
Since the collar of a knit is a separate, attachable part, it’s easier to work with because it won’t unravel entirely.
—What’s most important to you when remaking vintage pieces?
I think it’s cooler to use as much of the original yarn as possible, so I avoid combining knits with other materials like woven fabric.
Honestly, I just can’t come up with good ideas for those kinds of items. I guess I’m just not good with them! (laughs)
Unraveling and re-knitting—these are things you can only do with knits, and I think that’s what makes them special.
—What’s the appeal of knits for you?
I think the fascinating part of knits is how material creation and structural design happen simultaneously.
In woven fabrics, you’d create shape with darts, but in knits, that shaping happens as you’re creating the material itself.
When a design makes the most of that, you get something truly unique to knits.
