nonnative’s 41st collection “WEST” looks toward American casual wear An exclusive pattern created by NOMA t.d. injects character to the line-up
Drawing inspiration from California, nonnative’s 41st collection is focused on classic “Amekaji” (American Casual wear as interpreted by Japanese from the 1960s to the 1990s), comprising primarily of military, work, and athletic-wear inspired pieces. Designer Takayuki Fujii sought to add a patterned element to the collection, resulting in the incorporation of an exclusive bandana-style print designed by NOMA t.d.
NOMA t.d. was established in 2005 by Masako Noguchi and Takuma Sasaki. The brand blends the old and new by using traditional techniques and artisan skills to create unique, contemporary, hand-drawn textiles.
The bandana-inspired print is based on a motif called “Draw Your Garden”, which was developed over the course of several years.
The detailed floral pattern is a contemporary spin on the American interpretation of the bandana, adding a sense of depth and balance throughout the collection.
