COVERCHORD FEATURE
NEW LIFE ESSENTIALS
Spring Picks for a Fresh Start
For a fresh start this spring.
Staff picks across clothing, food, home, and travel.
“New life” means something different for everyone.
For some, it comes with a new job or starting school.
For others, it may be a new hobby or simply a reset in daily rhythm.
Some see their surroundings change, while others make small updates to the life they already have. With different generations and interests, lifestyles naturally vary.
In this feature, COVERCHORD staff have selected items they would like to bring into the season ahead, along with pieces they would recommend to others, across clothing, food, home, and travel.
Things worn every day. Items that enrich the table. Pieces that make time at home more comfortable.
All are choices we feel confident recommending, whether for yourself or as a gift for someone starting a new chapter.
YOSUKE KOMATSUNO
Ceramic Tableware

Rina
Buying Team
The MULTIPURPOSE BOWL and CURRY PASTA DISH by YOSUKE KOMATSUNO appear on our table quite often.
True to their names, they are reliable pieces suited to many uses.
Beyond their practicality, the softly rounded form and deep matte tones give them a gentle charm.
Recommended for anyone who loves food.
MONOLITH
BACKPACK

Ryo
Creative Team
This year I hope to make it a fulfilling one, giving my all to both work and play.
I’ve long used outdoor brand backpacks, but I finally found an ideal piece that adapts smoothly to different situations and works both on and off.
The minimal design, along with practical features for everyday use and easy styling, is another appeal.
It feels like a dependable companion to walk into the new year with.
PACIFIC FURNITURE SERVICE
SEIKO WALL CLOCK

Placing the things I love where I want them.
Placing the things I love where I want them.
I enjoy arranging the scenery at home the way one would hang a picture on the wall, and now a clock has become part of it.
I used to avoid clocks, but after encountering the collaboration model by PACIFIC FURNITURE SERVICE and SEIKO Clock, I discovered their appeal.
I used to avoid clocks, but after encountering the collaboration model by PACIFIC FURNITURE SERVICE and SEIKO Clock, I discovered their appeal.
I’m also drawn to its slightly nostalgic presence, once used on Tokyo city buses.
Built to resist dust and humidity, it continues to quietly mark the time in my home each day.
BLANC
SUNGLASSES

Takuya
Nakameguro Team
I own more eyewear than I can hold in one hand, but I still picked up a new pair this year.
BLANC appeals with its approachable pricing and minimal design that blends easily into any style.
Not only is the balance of the look just right, it’s also comfortable to wear, which makes me reach for it again and again.
In winter I tended to stay indoors, using the cold as an excuse, but now the sunny season is coming. With sunglasses on, I’d like to spend as much time outside as possible.
That said, eyewear somehow always goes missing… that remains my yearly challenge.
Baserange
WHITE TEE

Tomori
Nakameguro Team
A white shirt is always in the wardrobe, yet somehow I feel like updating it from time to time.
Whether I want to dress neatly or keep things relaxed, it’s something I naturally reach for.
Soft, fluid fabrics are nice, but this year I’m drawn to crisp organic cotton for a clean, gentle look.
Simply putting it on creates a natural shape and a composed feel.
Because it’s simple, it’s worth choosing carefully.
A white shirt that feels just right for now.
DAUGHTERS JEWELRY
GOLD RING

Kenta
Online Team
I’m not especially focused on my interior or living space, and I’m not very interested in cooking either.
For a new start, I look to lift my mood through what I wear rather than through my surroundings.
A new pair of leather shoes, or a small accessory that subtly accents an outfit.
This year, I’m especially drawn to gold jewelry. The DAUGHTERS JEWELRY ring has just the right balance of quality and approachable pricing.
Something you can wear every day and feel a little more motivated.
That’s the kind of new life I want to begin with this piece.
SATISFY
RUNNING SHORTS

Daichi
Online Team
This year I’m planning to enter a trail running race with friends.
While updating my gear, these running shorts have become a favorite.
They’re lightweight and easy to move in, and the clean design also lifts my mood.
Having a goal like a race somehow brings rhythm to everyday life.
Time spent sweating and steadying my breath naturally clears my mind.
With a new season, a new habit. Adding a little time for running to daily life feels like a good way to begin something new.
Maison Margiela
WALLET CLIP

Akira
Online Team
I decided to replace the wallet I had used for many years.
Every time I see Maison Margiela’s iconic white stitching, it still lifts my mood a little.
The compact, minimal design in supple yet durable calf leather feels just right for now.
Because it’s something I touch every day, I want it to be something I genuinely like.
Small choices like this somehow make the day feel more comfortable.
KAMARO'AN
WALL MIRROR

Minji
Buying Team
A new addition to COVERCHORD’s selection, the Taiwanese brand KAMARO'AN.
This mirror stands out with its soft, beautiful silhouette, reminiscent of a stone rounded by the waves.
It can be hung on the wall without taking up space like a standing mirror, making it easy to incorporate even in compact living spaces while adding a subtle nuance to the room.
I hang mine by the bedside and use it for my makeup each morning. Beyond its practicality, it helps settle my mood whenever it catches my eye.

MASON PEARSON
HANDY BRISTLE

Hiroki
Online Team
My hair has recently grown close to the length I’ve been aiming for.
On workdays, a tight braid is my go-to style, and for everyday styling I rely on a MASON PEARSON comb.
Lately, I’ve been eyeing the brand’s hairbrush, the HANDY BRISTLE. It’s said to be the most standard model, and that straightforward simplicity appeals to me.
It would be my first time using a boar bristle brush, but the quality, often described as the “Rolls-Royce of brushes,” is undeniably tempting.
Style includes the time spent maintaining it. I’m thinking it may be time to welcome a proper brush and take my daily care up a notch.
IKEUCHI ORGANIC
BATH TOWEL

Yuichiro
Creative Team
Married life is a blend of different cultures.
In our home, my wife prefers to keep laundry compact and uses hand towels to dry off.
As a rather large guy, though, I can never quite dry myself properly. It may be time to seriously propose introducing bath towels.
My candidate is the ORGANIC AIR PREMIUM BATH TOWEL.
It has a soft, powder-snow-like fluffiness, yet it’s light, highly absorbent, and quick to dry.
It’s also slightly larger, with a reassuring feel that wraps around the whole body.
And soon, we’ll be welcoming a child.
A towel that gently wraps around you will surely become a reliable companion for the whole family.
Here goes the new chapter. Negotiations with my wife over bringing in bath towels start now.
TADAFUSA
KNIFE

Takahiro & Haruka
Nakameguro Team / Bar Kurage Staff
For the two of us who love cooking, a knife is indispensable.
At home, we use a TADAFUSA santoku and a bread knife.
After getting married, we also bought a whetstone and have been maintaining it ourselves for about five years. With each use, it has come to feel more natural in the hand.
After getting married, we also bought a whetstone and have been maintaining it ourselves for about five years. With each use, it has come to feel more natural in the hand.
It’s lighter than it looks, the wooden handle fits softly in the grip, and the sharpness unique to a steel blade makes the moment it glides into ingredients especially satisfying.
That’s why this spring we’re thinking of adding a petty knife as well.
As time in the kitchen accumulates, the tools grow alongside it. That feeling fits naturally in our home.

ESSENTIAL SHIRT

Eiichi
Nakameguro Team
I’ll be attending my brother’s wedding this year.
So I wanted a shirt that works for more formal occasions but also fits easily into everyday wear.
I chose a charcoal shirt. Neither black nor white, it has just the right sense of refinement, understated yet dependable.
The light, airy fabric is another appeal.
It feels polished, but never stiff.
A shirt is special after all. It blends into daily life while still holding up in formal settings. That range is what makes it the most reliable piece.
HALMUSUI
WATERLESS POT

Rika
Online Team
On some days I cook something quickly between busy moments, and on others I take my time on a slow weekend.
For both, I’d like to welcome the HALMUSUI waterless pot as a dependable everyday companion.
It can simmer, grill, steam, fry, and even cook rice.
A truly versatile pot with no weak points.
Since bigger is better, I’m considering the largest 24 cm size.
With just a small amount of oil, vegetables can be gently cooked to bring out their full flavor, and the ability to cook rice is a nice bonus.
This year, I’m hoping to try making biryani in it.
KOMAKI PLUM LIQUEUR
SUSgallery ROCK SEPIA

Yusuke
Creative Team
I started, guided by seniors who enjoy a good drink, to appreciate life with good alcohol.
While trying everything from shochu to organic tequila, this time I’d like to try the fruit-rich plum wine from KOMAKI JOZO.
For an evening drink, I pair it with a SUSgallery rock tumbler.
Made from titanium with a double-wall vacuum structure, it offers excellent heat and cold retention. The ice melts slowly, and there’s no condensation on the table, which is another nice touch.
It’s enjoyable to savor a drink alone, but sharing good drinks with friends is even better.
My place may be small, but you’re always welcome.
Rab
LARGE TRAVEL BAG

Yuka
Buying Team
I’m looking forward to traveling to many places again this year with my daughter and son.
Until now I often packed everything into a suitcase, but opening and managing luggage during transit or in the car was always a bit difficult.
I was looking for a bag with large capacity, good mobility, and the reliability to use comfortably while traveling.
That’s why I chose the Rab ESCAPE KIT BAG LT 70.It works as both a duffel and a backpack, and having both hands free is especially convenient.
With a 70L capacity and weighing only 0.87 kg, it’s also packable and can be stored compactly when not in use.
A bag like a travel companion you can take anywhere.
Highly recommended for active family outings.
COMESANDGOES
CAP

Minki
Nakameguro Team
I’m a self-proclaimed cap lover, and wearing different hats each day has become a habit.
I already own more than twenty, but this spring I’d like to add a COMESANDGOES cap to the collection.
The shape and solid construction strike just the right balance, and putting it on somehow makes me feel more put together.
The lining uses COOLMAX® mesh, which keeps it comfortable throughout the day.
With this cap, everyday life in the new season feels like it can begin a little more lightly.
COW BOOKS
BOOK STORAGE BOX

Yuma
Creative Team
This spring feels like the perfect time to reset and bring a little order to everyday life.
Lately, stacks of manga I’ve collected have been piling up around the room, starting to get out of hand.
That’s where the wooden BOOK STORAGE BOX from COW BOOKS comes in.
With its simple yet stylish presence, it’s ideal not only for manga, but also for organizing magazines and documents.
It makes time at home feel even more comfortable.
SUNAO ICE CREAM SPOON
WASHIZUKA GLASS STUDIO DRINKING GLASS

Ami
Creative Team
I really love ice cream, and I make sure to have one every day.
To make this daily habit feel a little more special, I decided to update my ice-cream setup for the new season.
First, an ice-cream spoon. I still use the one I brought from home, but a dedicated spoon feels noticeably different.
Its slim, compact shape fits comfortably in the hand, making both scooping and the first bite feel smoother.I’m also planning to add a stemmed glass for serving ice cream. Making a simple parfait or putting in a bit of extra effort makes it even more enjoyable.
These small daily moments become something to look forward to.
Whether in this new routine or in the years ahead, my love of ice cream will stay the same, quietly enriching everyday life.
NOWHAW
SAUNA PAJAMAS

Ryoji
Nakameguro Team
I love going to the sauna. Not only after futsal, but often just for the sauna itself.
For those moments afterward, I’ve been wanting comfortable loungewear I can slip into right away, which is why I’d like to welcome the pajamas from NOWHAW into my routine.
They’re made from a double-sided pile fabric, with every part that touches the skin in cotton. Soft and comfortable, they’re perfect for relaxing at home.
The design doesn’t look overly like typical pajamas, so there’s no awkwardness wearing them on the way back from a nearby sauna or while spending time at home.
It naturally upgrades my usual T-shirt-and-sweats loungewear.
A piece that fits just as well into post-sauna moments as it does into quiet hours at home.
TOKURO TAKIMOTO
MUG

Mika
Nakameguro Team
I’ve only recently joined COVERCHORD.
Lately, I’ve been enjoying slowly adding a few favorite pieces to my daily life.
For this new start, I chose a mug by Miyazaki-based ceramic artist TOKURO TAKIMOTO.
Made using the traditional kohiki technique, it has a soft, gently muted white tone. Just holding it feels calming.
Whether it’s a morning café latte or an afternoon break, having it nearby makes everyday moments feel a little more special.
It’s a piece I hope to use for many years.
I’m also looking forward to discovering more ceramics in the future.
SONOBE CHOPSTICKS
FUTAGAMI CHOPSTICK REST

Gakuto
Creative Team
I already have a favorite pair of chopsticks, but I wanted to make the table feel a little more special, so I decided to add another set.
If I was getting new chopsticks, I also wanted a chopstick rest. Many homes don’t have one, and it would also make a nice gift.
The FUTAGAMI chopstick rest is made of brass, a material I wouldn’t normally choose. Having it on the table makes everyday meals feel a little more refined.
With both chopsticks and a rest in place, mealtime becomes something to slow down and enjoy.
It’s a set I’d like to welcome into this new stage of daily life.
