I love things that have a quiet beauty.
For example, this KURIKAWA SHOUTEN folding fan is a practical item, but it also doubles up as an interior decoration, subtly adding charm to any living space.
As soon as I brought it home I propped it up by the kitchen window where the sunlight streams in.
This style of fan is called Kutami Uchiwa, and is a traditional craft from Kumamoto Prefecture, crafted with a flexible bamboo frame and adorned with Japanese paper treated with persimmon tannin.
The texture feels so familiar, and its small size and round shape – not to mention the beautiful colors and patterns – it’s just beautiful.
And the packaging is awesome! It would make such a great gift – who wouldn't be thrilled to receive it?
So, I chose this item with a "cooling" theme, and I’d go as far as to say that this fan is the epitome of a summer must-have.
