tenugui

Tenugui are Japanese hand towels that are super useful and versatile.
You can wrap it around your head, tuck it under your hat, or use it as a handkerchief.
For someone like me who sweats a lot, having two of these with me every day is essential during the scorching summer.

I always end up buying one or two when I see them on my travels, but as a lot of them are geared towards tourists and sold in souvenir shops, they tend to be quite low quality with a cheap appearance.
I used to make do with these but when I saw the tenugui by Shigusa, I was blown away by the quality.

Based in Fujimi Town, Nagano Prefecture, Katsuyuki Sado creates these by using the traditional technique called "chusen." The delicate hues and patterns, produced through a meticulous and time-consuming process, seem to capture the ever-changing Japanese seasons.

One of the attractions of using plant-based dyeing, which is difficult to fix and tends to fade, is the enjoyment of its aging process.
It’s important to treat it with care, hand wash it, and avoid direct sunlight, and you’ll end up with an item that will grow dearer to you over time.

These hand towels are excellent as accent pieces for your outfit and highly versatile in daily life, serving as kitchen cloths or pot holders. They look great hanging in the kitchen.
