SUNAMI TORU SHOTEN
bottle basket
The scent of rush grass (igusa) is truly comforting, isn't it?
Perhaps it's because I’m Japanese.
I mentioned this briefly in a previous staff recommendation, but I think the scent of igusa evokes summer. Wanting to showcase this at our "Summer Tool Market," I reached out to Mr.
Sunami, who kindly agreed to make it for us on short notice. Thank you so much, Mr. Sunami!
Among the offerings from Sunami Kyo Shoten, my favorite is the igusa bottle basket.
This charming basket is crafted with a weaving technique called "shippo-musubi," which means "seven treasures knot."
The interlocking circles symbolize "connections," making this a lucky charm.
Originally designed to hold bottles, this basket is perfect as a gift set with wine or for carrying alcohol as a hostess gift to a home party. It serves as a tool that connects people.
Personally, I use it at home to store onions and potatoes.
Whether you enjoy the scent at home or use it outdoors, this igusa basket is perfect for everyday use in all sorts of situations.
