That hand cream you thought was lost? It’s probably hiding in the pocket of your winter coat.

It’s happened to me more than once—like the time I found one tucked inside a corduroy varsity jacket I used to love. A wide, cylindrical tube, a bit larger than my palm, flared like a brush at the base. I still remember the texture—smooth, with a muted gold finish.
I opened the cap, took in the scent, and spread a bit on the back of my hand.
That faint, nostalgic winter fragrance took me right back to Osaka—riding the Nankai Line past Kishiwada and Kaizuka, nearing Izumisano. The air carried that sweet, burnt soy sauce scent mixed with sea breeze. Nights in Osaka always felt like a festival was about to start.

Years have passed, the pandemic came and went, and the place I used to go no longer exists. But somehow, that scent feels like a portal—like it could take me there again. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
The hand cream? It’s probably disappeared again, buried deep in another coat pocket or bag.
