COVERCHORD の前身であるショップ、「vendor」時代から通ってくれていたお客様が、いま店頭スタッフとして働いているのですが、彼がよく話してくれるエピソードがあります。One of our current store staff members was once a customer who had been visiting since the days of vendor, the shop that came before COVERCHORD. He often shares a story with us. 当時、地元から通信販売を利用すると、箱を開けた瞬間にふわっと広がる「vendor」の香りがとても印象的だったと。Back then, when he placed mail orders from his hometown, the moment he opened the box, the scent of vendor would softly rise from inside. That memory has stayed with him ever since. 香りと匂いの記憶って、不思議とその時の情景や気持ちまで一緒に呼び起こしてくれますよね。There is something remarkable about the memory of scent. It can unexpectedly bring back not only a place, but also the feelings and atmosphere of that exact moment.
さて、「the nonnative shop」のオープン以来、店内で使用している〈retaW〉と〈nonnative〉のコラボレーションフレグランスが、ついに発売となります。Now, the collaborative fragrance created by retaW and nonnative, which has been used in-store since the opening of the nonnative shop, is finally being released.
ご来店されたことのある方の中には、心待ちにしていた方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。For those who have visited the store before, this may be something long awaited. “日常に寄り添う普遍的な香り”をコンセプトとした香りです。Built around the concept of a timeless scent that lives naturally within everyday life, the fragrance is named NAKAMEGURO, in reference to the home of nonnative. なので、〈nonnative〉の拠点に由来して「NAKAMEGURO*」と名づけられています。〈nonnative〉デザイナー藤井隆行氏自らが調香に携わり、華やかさを抑えた、落ち着きのあるウッドとスパイスを軸に仕上げられています。nonnative designer Takayuki Fujii personally took part in the fragrance creation, shaping a calm composition centered on understated woods and spices, with any excessive sweetness or flamboyance stripped away.
自宅はもちろん、車内や職場など、シチュエーションを選ばず自然に取り入れられる香りなのも、魅力のひとつ。Another appeal of the scent is its versatility. Whether at home, in the car, or at work, it blends naturally into any setting. ショップ沿いを流れる目黒川と、〈retaW〉の名前からの、“水”をイメージしたオリジナルのパッケージデザインも、本コラボレーションならではの特別な仕様です。The original package design, inspired by the Meguro River that flows alongside the shop and the water imagery associated with the name retaW, is another detail unique to this collaboration.
日常の中にさりげなく溶け込みながら、ふとした瞬間に記憶と結びつくような香り。あの頃の「vendor」のように、この香りもまた、誰かの記憶に残っていく存在になってもらえたら嬉しいです。A fragrance that quietly becomes part of everyday life, then suddenly reconnects you to a memory.Just like vendor once did, we hope this scent will become something that remains in someone’s memory for years to come.
