関口憲孝さんの器SEKIGUCHI NORITAKA CERAMICS

全く関係ないのですが、先月のWBC（野球の世界大会）で日本代表がベスト8で敗退し、かなりショックを受けておりました。Japan’s early WBC exit was a disappointment, and my hometown team, the Chunichi Dragons, has also opened the season with a losing streak.
その後すぐ、プロ野球のシーズンも開幕。自分の地元チーム・中日ドラゴンズもさっそく連敗が続き……。今年はダークホースと期待されていたものの、このまま期待外れ終わってしまうのでしょうか。Now to the main topic. This time, I would like to introduce the ceramics of SEKIGUCHI NORITAKA.

さて本題です。今回ご紹介するのは、陶芸家〈関口憲孝〉さんの器。明るい色味の作品も多い作家さんなのですが、個人的にはダークトーンの器が気になっています。While the artist is known for brighter works, I have been especially drawn to the darker pieces.

先日訪れた居酒屋での、最後の締め。ダークトーンの器に盛られた白ごはんが美しく見え、とても魅力的に感じました。そこで思い返してみると、我が家の食器棚には明るいトーンの器が多く、こういった器を取り入れてみたいなと物欲を刺激されました。Recently, I was struck by how beautifully white rice looked served in a dark-toned bowl at an izakaya. It made me realise that most of the tableware in my home is in lighter tones, and that I would love to add something like this.

「8角鉢」には新玉ねぎを入れたポテトサラダ、「7寸深鉢」には自分の大好きな冷しゃぶを盛り付けてと、想像が膨らみます。繊細な関口さんの作品が、お料理をぐっと華やかな雰囲気に引き立ててくれるのではと妄想しています。I can imagine potato salad in the Octagonal Bowl or chilled pork shabu in the Deep 7 Sun Bowl.

新年度も始まり、新しい生活をスタートされた方も多いのではないでしょうか。Delicate yet expressive, Sekiguchi’s ceramics bring a refined atmosphere to everyday meals.
心機一転、毎日の食卓を彩る器も新調してみてはいかがでしょうか。With a new season underway, it may be the perfect time to refresh your table with new pieces.
