DWELLER TRAINER

After 35 consecutive days of rain, the longest stretch ever recorded in Tokyo, the skies finally cleared, and it felt like the whole city came back to life.
On one of those first clear days, I took the opportunity to head to a park a little farther away for lunch.
People were sunbathing shirtless or napping comfortably on benches, each enjoying the long-awaited sunshine in their own way. There was something especially nice about the mood that day.

After so many rainy days, one thing I found myself appreciating all over again was GORE-TEX footwear.
I wear nonnative pretty much every day, whether I’m working or off, so naturally I often end up in their GORE-TEX shoes as well. The other day, though, I wore a pair without waterproofing in the rain for the first time in a while. My socks were soaked almost immediately. It was terrible (laughs).
When you wear GORE-TEX almost every day, keeping your feet dry starts to feel completely normal. I had almost forgotten how much of a difference it makes. That rainy day was a good reminder. Thank you, GORE-TEX.

The DWELLER TRAINER series, created by nonnative in collaboration with Japanese footwear brand SPINGLE and released each season, is of course equipped with GORE-TEX.

The upper material is carefully selected each season, and this time it comes in warm cotton corduroy, a texture that fits naturally into autumn and winter styling. Corduroy on the outside, GORE-TEX inside.
It’s quite a combination.

This season’s model also adds padding around the ankle for improved comfort, making it easy to wear even for extended periods.
Rain or shine, sometimes a better mood starts with what’s on your feet. Writing this has reminded me once again how good it feels to enjoy the shoes you want to wear without worrying about the weather.
