Takakura is AMAMI ŌSHIMA’s signature brown sugar shochu. The base shochu is aged for more than three years and then further matured in oak barrels to achieve a rich amber color, a mellow sweetness reminiscent of brown sugar, a fruity aroma, and a full-bodied flavor.

Founded in 1970 on Amami island in Kagoshima, AMAMI ŌSHIMA produces brown sugar shochu using only locally sourced water and brown sugar as its two ingredients. They source their water from the Jogo River, which is thought to be the best-tasting water in Amami.
