Photographer KENJI SATO explores the abandoned Hashima island, commonly refered to as Gunkanjima, located in southern Japan. The island, closed from 1974 to 2009, is now a preserved ghost town in the middle of sea.
Author of a number of highly regarded photo books such as “The Wonderland’s Heritage 1&2” and “Ruins of the World,” photographer KENJI SATO explores some of the globe’s most extreme and unusual locations, documenting them all through his unique aesthetic lens. His work has made numerous appearances on Asahi TV and TBS, as well as in a special edition of TRANSIT magazine.
