Based in Aso, Kumamoto prefecture, FUTOSHI YAMASHITA excavates materials from nearby Mount Aso, Japan’s largest active volcano. By using clay that is rich with volcanic ash and rock, Yamashita creations feature a distinctive rustic quality reflecting the powerful nature of his surroundings.
