KAPTAIN SUNSHINE
WOOL SERGE JACKET
Long ago, KAPTAIN SUNSHINE created a masterpiece with BARBOUR called the BIG TRANSPORTER.
While short-length outerwear has since become common, at the time pieces this cropped were rare, and I remember jumping at the chance to own one.
Beyond the length, its standout features were the oversized body and extra-wide armholes, which allowed it to be thrown on over virtually anything.
In other words, limitless layering. Perfect for winters in the city where the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors can be extreme. That coat became my go-to every winter back then.
Fast forward to 2025, and it has been revived in an exceptional wool serge fabric. More than just a reissue, the piece has been updated with leather details at key points.
It will be released this fall together with easy pants made from the same fabric.
Thank you, Kojima-san. I plan to pile on layers once again and make it through this winter.

CONVERSE ADDICT
CHUCK TAYLOR HI
Compared to the past, trends have become so segmented that it’s harder to discern what really defines the moment.
Still, there’s no denying that trends exist, and in recent years sneaker cycles in particular seem to be moving faster than ever.
Personally, alongside MERRELL’s Jungle Moc, I’ve been refocusing on the unwavering standard king―the CONVERSE Chuck Taylor. No matter how fast the currents shift, it stands firm.
This year brings something special: for the first time since the debut CONVERSE ADDICT collection in 2008, the black leather high-cut is set to return―17 years later.
Seventeen years. If I could, I’d tell my younger self who sold the first release in-store, “The next one won’t come until 17 years from now.” I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, this is huge.
I even have a friend who bought two pairs back in 2008 and has kept one untouched ever since. When he hears this news, I’m sure he’ll finally unbox them in a tearful ritual―and I can’t wait to tell him.

HOW TO WRAP_
WRAPPED STONE
When I think of the phrase “a refined sense of living,” a few people come to mind, and Yamamoto of HOW TO WRAP is certainly one of them.
His work spans so many fields that it’s nearly impossible to describe in a single line. Yet in everything he does, his sense of taste shines through. Gentle, meticulous, and warm, it’s no wonder people naturally gather around him. He embodies a refined sense of living.
One example is his WRAPPED STONE, created by collecting stones himself from the countryside and carefully weaving them by hand.
Considering the time and effort involved, it hardly seems practical, but that disregard for efficiency is exactly what makes his work so admirable.
Today there are many variations of WRAPPED STONE, but Yamamoto’s are instantly recognizable, thanks to his distinct palette.
The soft, slightly beige tone of the stone blends seamlessly with the leather, creating a natural harmony that fits into any interior.
We are also pleased to share some good news.
This winter, Yamamoto’s long-awaited solo exhibition will be held at our store.

HYKE
BLAZER

New to COVERCHORD this autumn/winter, HYKE strikes a perfect balance of functionality and beauty, captivating fans with its refined approach.
Among its staples, the long-adored blazer stands out.
At first glance it looks classic, yet when you unfasten the sleeve buttons a hidden slit appears―two looks in one piece.
Wear it over a sleeveless top to show skin from the elbows down, or layer it with a long-sleeve tee or cardigan in autumn.
Perfect for subtle temperature adjustments, it highlights HYKE’s signature blend of function and beauty.
As a fan of matching sets, I’d pair it with the pants in the same fabric. It’s a styling that feels just right for fall.
Aeta
BOSTON BAG

When it comes to Aeta, there are countless iconic pieces that come to mind.
I had been wanting one of their bags for years, but my indecision kept me from finally taking the plunge.
That changed when, during a meeting, I saw someone carrying this Square Boston. It had presence without being overpowering, and I knew right away this was the one.
Though I debated between the mini size and the small, I ultimately chose the small.
It holds not only my essentials but also my child’s snacks and toys, fitting more than it appears at first glance.
Recently, it has become trendy to decorate bags with multiple charms, but since the inside of mine is already lively enough, I prefer to keep the outside simple.
The supple feel of the deerskin leather is beautiful as it is, and I am looking forward to watching it soften and age gracefully over time.

nante
SKIRT
At 165cm, I’m considered tall for a woman, and I often find myself wishing bottoms had just a little more length.
The skirt from nante solves that with a wonderfully long, floor-skimming silhouette.
It comes in two sizes, S and M, with a drawcord at the waist for adjustment, so petite wearers can feel at ease too (for reference, I wear an M).
The real highlight is the double-layered pocket. Far from being a mere design detail, it’s built with functionality in mind, you can slip in a heavy iPhone without it dragging down or worry about it falling out when running.
It’s in these thoughtful touches that you truly feel nante’s commitment to creating pieces that stay close to the wearer.

SONOBE
MEIBOKU BOWL
Among staff, few items are as widely owned as SONOBE’s MEIBOKU BOWL, a long-time COVERCHORD favorite.
Crafted in chestnut, oak, or walnut, each bowl has its own personality, with distinct grain, tone, and weight.
I personally use both the chestnut and walnut at home.
My daily rhythm often begins with cooking rice and making miso soup, and these bowls have been in use about four times a week for several years.
Over time, they have developed a beautiful patina, which is one of the true pleasures of living with wooden tableware.
The ones in the photos are my own.
They show a little wear from less-than-perfect maintenance, but that too feels part of their charm.
First introduced in 1996, the MEIBOKU BOWL is now nearing 30 years of continuous production.
Still cherished today, it remains a dependable piece you will always be glad to have in your home.

TOKURO TAKIMOTO
RICE BOWL
Also a long-time favorite at COVERCHORD, Tokuro Takimoto’s rice bowls have been produced in countless numbers over the years.
This design features the traditional “zōgan” inlay technique.
Although it is an age-old craft method, Takimoto’s experience working in El Salvador and Mexico lends the pattern a subtly exotic character that is uniquely his.
The bowls are available in two sizes, large and small.
A simple rule of thumb might be small for women and large for men, but I personally prefer the large. It works perfectly for dishes like ochazuke, and sometimes larger really does cover every situation.
With their soft, rustic charm, Takimoto’s kohiki rice bowls serve as quiet supporting players at the table, enhancing the rice, the side dishes, and the meal as a whole.
