As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves once again in the fast-paced month of December, where time seems to slip away in an instant. The Japanese term "Shiwasu"—literally meaning "teachers running"—captures the hectic nature of this season, even for those who are usually calm and composed. Ahead of this whirlwind month, nonnative and UNDERCOVER present the OZISM collection, featuring items inspired by the samue workwear traditionally worn by monks. Anchored by a unique worldview, this collection includes standout pieces like the “MONK” jacket, which perfectly embodies its meditative yet functional essence.

The main pieces in the OZISM collection are crafted from a brushed wool/nylon blend and feature an updated, more relaxed silhouette. The pile fabric gives the garments a soft, warm feel while maintaining the structured look of the traditional samue. This approach makes the designs more accessible and wearable for everyday life. A notable highlight is the MONK CREW PULLOVER COTTON SWEAT “OZU,” featuring a portrait of filmmaker Yasujirō Ozu, the inspiration behind OZISM. The artwork was hand-drawn by UNDERCOVER designer Jun Takahashi and printed onto the sweatshirt, complemented by distressing that enhances the overall aesthetic. This combination elevates the OZISM theme, creating a truly unique piece.
