This is the GEL-NYC incline model made in collaboration between ASICS and Angelo Baque's New York street brand AWAKE NY. Based on the running model GEL NIMBUS-3 released in the 2000s, these shoes are updated with modern features while maintaining ASICS archive details.

The name ASICS is an acronym for the Latin phrase “anima sana in corpore sano” which means “healthy soul in a healthy body”. The brand began in 1949 by manufacturing basketball shoes and soon widened its range to include top-performing running shoes, sportswear, and sporting equipment.
