Named after the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain, THE NORTH FACE began in 1966 when a pair of hiking enthusiasts founded a small retail store in downtown San Francisco. Two years later they began designing and manufacturing their brand of technical apparel, bags, and mountain climbing equipment. Throughout the following decades, THE NORTH FACE developed and expanded its product lines which now include comprehensive collections of some of the most advanced, high-performance outdoor clothing and gear available.
