This rim plate by artist Shoshi Watanabe, based in Japan and Los Angeles, features refined colors and unique textures shaped by the different clays and glazes used in each region.

After moving to Los Angeles at age 18 to study under ceramic artist Adrian Saxe, ceramicist Shoshi Watanabe now divides his time between Japan and the United States. Using modified glazes developed in Los Angeles during the 1960s and 1970s, Watanabe draws from the past to create contemporary ceramics notable for their refined and natural aesthetic.
