Japan's pioneering recovery sandal brand, rig, was established in 2019. With its reliable technology and refined design, the rig has garnered increasing popularity since its inception.

This time, the two collaborative sandal models, KAMBA and BAWAKA, combine rig’s innovative features and superior craftsmanship with nonnative’s signature aesthetic. Both models are set to release on Saturday, June 17th.

rig spent four years conducting extensive research on the differences in foot characteristics among different ethnicities, and actively engaging with athletes across diverse sports disciplines such as trail running, mountain biking, road cycling, and triathlon.

As a result, rig’s recovery sandals have been developed specifically to excel in shock absorption and facilitate utmost relaxation for the feet, even after rigorous exercise or prolonged periods of standing. They are also effective in minimizing fatigue and optimizing recovery for the following day.

Through this collaboration, performance-driven footwear that was developed to alleviate foot fatigue in athletes has been transformed into refined and stylish designs suitable for urban settings and beyond. Both models are available in a dark-tone color palette that can blend seamlessly into any wardrobe.

The nonnative branding has been kept subtle, featured only on the insole. Combining the epitome of comfort and style, the KAMBA and BAWAKA models are versatile additions to your wardrobe as we head into summer.

BAWAKA

The first collaborative model was developed with an original upper design. The BAWAKA sandals feature a slide-style band that fully covers the instep, exuding a snug, robust aesthetic reminiscent of leather sandals.

It is constructed from a breathable mesh-type fabric which ensures cool comfort even on sweltering summer days. The triple-layered sole further enhances its durable and sturdy appeal.

KAMBA

The KAMBA is based on the NOHY model which made its debut this Spring/Summer season 2023. It features a simple yet distinctive design that ensures foot support using only a single rope and a set of Velcro, which achieves a barefoot-like feel when worn.

The addition of strategically placed leather accents and a thicker, triple-layered sole structure results in a high-quality and impactful pair of sandals.

❶ A BAMBOO FOOT ARCH
Supports and improves blood circulation for foot arches that have dropped due to fatigue.

❷ MAXIMUM CUSHION EVA
Highly cushioned footbed absorbs impact better than regular sandals, reducing strain on the feet and legs. The EVA material offers antibacterial and deodorizing qualities.

❸ FULL COMPRESSION EVA
A thick, full-compression EVA material in a bucket shape ensures stable footing.

❹ TOE HOOK SYSTEM
A ridge at the base of the toes allows for smooth walking without exerting unnecessary pressure.

❺ LIGHT RUBBER SOLE
A high-grip recycled lightweight rubber is applied only in areas with contact to the ground.
