Zuisen
plum wine on the rocks
"Plum Wine Awamori!?”
I'm not usually one for sweet drinks, but out of curiosity, I went for it.
When it comes to plum liqueur, I was only familiar with the mainstream brands that market their products as light and refreshing. So, when I took a sip of this Zuisen Umeshu, I was pretty surprised.
The combination of Ryukyu Awamori, Kishu Nankoume plums, and Okinawan black sugar creates an elegant and well-rounded flavor that's exceptionally well-balanced.
The combination of Ryukyu Awamori, Kishu Nankoume plums, and Okinawan black sugar creates an elegant and well-rounded flavor that's exceptionally well-balanced. The subtle sweetness of the plums, followed by the rich aroma of black and whole koji Awamori, lingers on the palate.
This might even be suitable for sipping from a wine glass.
It pairs well with food too! I enjoyed it with a hearty dish of braised pork belly.
This plum liqueur seems versatile enough for cooking too. It would probably make a delicious addition to stewed pork, but perhaps that would be a waste.
