This 18.5cm copper frying pan in raw copper finish is part of the specialty copper cookware series, crafted using traditional Tsubame hammered copper techniques. The thick copper material ensures durability, making it a lifetime tool with proper care.
Characteristics of Copper:
Copper has twice the thermal conductivity of aluminum, five times that of iron, and 25 times that of stainless steel. Its high heat retention ensures that heated contents stay warm for longer, while cool contents remain cold. Copper also distributes heat evenly, minimizing hot spots when cooking. It is ideal for simmering, as copper cookware helps prevent ingredients from breaking apart while enhancing flavor absorption. With proper care, copper cookware can last a lifetime, developing a rich patina over time. Tsubame hammered copperware is especially durable due to copper’s hardening properties when struck.
Care Instructions:
- Use only on low to medium heat, ensuring the flame touches the bottom of the pan.
- Do not dry-heat the pan.
- Handle may become hot; exercise caution.
- Do not fill to the brim.
- Avoid using steel wool or abrasive powders.
- Do not use a dishwasher or dryer.
- Not suitable for IH heaters, microwaves, or ovens.
- Do not store liquids in the pan for long periods, as it may cause copper toxicity.
Maintenance:
- Before first use, wash with a sponge and mild dish soap, then rinse thoroughly.
- After each use, clean and dry with a cloth to remove moisture.
- For long-term storage, wipe thoroughly with a dry cloth and store in a low-humidity area.
