EARTH SPIRIT is a traditional year-round shime decoration, historically placed by the bedside to protect and bring peace to the home.

In Nariwa, hearths were sacred, and unlike other New Year ornaments, this piece was kept until replaced the next year. The name, written 御土公様, varies locally in pronunciation.

Launched in Okayama in 2022 by artist Yo Fujimoto, HINOE creates traditional shime decorations. The artist prepares materials from planting to harvest and carefully crafts each piece, often following local traditional forms. The name HINOE means “sun,” symbolizing guidance and good fortune.
