Born in Fukuoka City in 1978, ceramic artist Koji Kitaoka embarked on his pottery journey after a stint in the UK after graduating from university. Upon returning to Japan he worked a regular corporate job, but his desire to enter the world of ceramics, inspired by his father, led him to establish "Kita Tobo" in his hometown of Fukuoka in 2010.
Driven by the philosophy of creating "simple yet quietly impactful" pieces, Kitaoka endeavors to make them accessible to as many people as possible. His focus lies in crafting rustic, user-friendly vessels that seamlessly integrate into dining experiences.
