Named after the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain, THE NORTH FACE began in 1966 when a pair of hiking enthusiasts founded a small retail store in downtown San Francisco. Two years later they began designing and manufacturing their brand of technical apparel, bags, and mountain climbing equipment.
