This TRIVET from SUNAMI TŌRU SHŌTEN is a trivet woven using traditional techniques with igusa straw.
Originally used in tatami mats, igusa develops a beautiful sheen and becomes more supple with use, aging into a rich, fox-like color.

Based in Kurashiki, Okayama, SUNAMI TŌRU SHŌTEN creates igusa straw baskets. Founded in 1886, it is now led by fifth-generation Takayoshi Sunami. They honor traditional techniques while incorporating new methods, crafting each piece by hand.
