ONIMARU TOYOKI KILN’s
rice bowl

I came across and bought this rice bowl when we visited the Onimaru Toyoki Kiln for an interview.
It features a traditional and beautifully brushed design. It is thin, light, and feels good in your hand – the perfect rice bowl.

Somehow, I had this fixed notion that a person only needs one rice bowl. But then this rice bowl joined our tableware repertoire, and it made me realize that it's enjoyable to change rice bowls sometime, just like other things.

For Japanese meals like grilled fish, miso soup, Japanese omelet, and rice, I choose this rice bowl.

It pairs so well with grilled fish. This little rice bowl.

It may seem to be a simple diet, but shiny white rice cooked in a clay pot, served in this classic bowl already elevates the quality of our daily meal. It's more than enough.
As the chef Yoshiharu Doi once said, "One soup, one dish is sufficient."

It’s been two years since I visited for the interview, but the featured article is still worth a read.
