ISSUI POTTERY
large plate

My specialty dish is gyoza dumplings.
I've wrapped so many gyoza with these hands of mine.
I even make the wrappers from scratch, so they feel so precious to me, like my own babies.
So I wanted to find the perfect plate to hold these precious dumplings, and I came across this Large Plate from Issui Pottery.

It can hold roughly 12-16 gyozas, which is just the right amount for a middle-aged man like me who loves to eat.
When you neatly line them up along the grid, they look so delicious.
The grid pattern is made up of straight lines but not perfectly straight, which suits the slightly imperfect homemade gyoza perfectly.

And, of course, the vibrant color variations thanks to the unique glaze that's typical of yachimun pottery.
Beige is perfect for standard pan-fried gyoza, green for those with a special sauce made with cilantro and green chili, and blue for steamed dumplings with a clear broth.
As a side note, the comedy duo Ogi Yahagi mentioned on the radio that mixing marmalade and soy sauce to make a dipping sauce is delicious (I'd choose orange or yellow for that).

Of course, it's not just for gyoza. It pairs well with other dishes too.
Placing a giant rolled omelet made with six eggs on it is an option or a perfectly round hamburger steak right in the middle.

Anyway, thinking of how a dish will look when serving it on this plate makes cooking more enjoyable.
